SSS Sickness Benefit Calculator

SSS

Work out the SSS sickness benefit at 90% of the average daily salary credit, with the 4-day minimum and the 120-day annual cap applied.

This calculator does not carry current agency interest or dividend rates. You enter the rate, so a result is only as current as the figure you typed.

It is an estimate for planning, not an official quotation, and SSS's own computation is what governs. Confirm the figures before you commit to anything.

What this calculator does

It takes your six highest monthly salary credits from the 12-month period immediately preceding the semester of sickness, divides the total by 180 to get the Average Daily Salary Credit, takes 90% of that, and multiplies by the days you are claiming.

The 90% is what separates this from the maternity benefit, which pays 100% of the same ADSC.

Worked example at the ceiling

A member whose six highest monthly salary credits are all at the ₱20,000 benefit ceiling, claiming 10 days:

Step Figure
Six highest monthly salary credits 6 × ₱20,000
Sum ₱120,000
Divided by 180
Average Daily Salary Credit ₱666.67
Daily allowance at 90% ₱600.00
10 days claimed ₱6,000.00
30 days claimed ₱18,000.00
120 days, the annual cap ₱72,000.00

The 90% rate costs ₱66.67 a day against the maternity rate on the same salary credit, or ₱666.70 across a 10-day claim.

The full projection table

Every row is this calculator’s own output, at a flat monthly salary credit across all six months and the ceiling left at ₱20,000.

Monthly salary credit ADSC Daily at 90% 10 days 30 days 120 days
₱5,000 ₱166.67 ₱150.00 ₱1,500.00 ₱4,500.00 ₱18,000.00
₱10,000 ₱333.33 ₱300.00 ₱3,000.00 ₱9,000.00 ₱36,000.00
₱15,000 ₱500.00 ₱450.00 ₱4,500.00 ₱13,500.00 ₱54,000.00
₱20,000 ₱666.67 ₱600.00 ₱6,000.00 ₱18,000.00 ₱72,000.00

A member at the ₱20,000 ceiling who uses the full 120 days receives ₱72,000.00, which is ₱54,000.00 more than a member at ₱5,000 doing the same.

The two limits, and why they are reported rather than applied silently

Limit Rule
Minimum confinement at least 4 days, at home or in hospital
Annual cap 120 days in one calendar year
Same-illness cap 240 days, after which it becomes a disability claim

The calculator pays only up to the days remaining under the 120-day annual cap, and separately tells you how many days fell beyond it. That is deliberate. A member who claims 30 days having already been paid 110 this year is not owed a smaller number with no explanation: 10 days are payable and 20 are not, and the reason is the cap.

Passing 240 days for the same illness stops being a sickness claim altogether and becomes a disability claim, covered in the SSS disability benefit guide.

The notification clocks

Confinement Notify within
At home 5 calendar days of the start of confinement
In hospital 1 year of discharge

The home-confinement window is the tight one. 5 calendar days includes weekends, and missing it is the most common reason an otherwise valid claim fails.

Employed members must also have exhausted company sick leave with pay for the year before the SSS benefit applies.

The ₱20,000 ceiling

SSS computes the benefit on a monthly salary credit up to ₱20,000, whatever the member’s actual MSC. The ceiling is a field on this calculator rather than a constant in its code, because SSS moves the contribution schedule by circular. Read the current figure off the SSS contribution table guide and type it in.

What this calculator does not do

It does not test your eligibility, check that your 3 qualifying contributions fall in the right semester, or know whether your employer has already advanced the payment. It computes the published formula on the figures you give it.

For the 100% maternity rate on the same ADSC, use the SSS maternity benefit calculator.

The benefit, its conditions and the filing route are set out in the SSS sickness benefit guide.
