Canberra publishes the fullest consular fee schedule of any Australian post, and reading it alongside Sydney’s explains a difference that otherwise looks like two posts charging different prices for the same document.
Where
| Detail | |
|---|---|
| Address | 1 Moonah Place, Yarralumla, ACT 2600, Australia |
| Other Philippine offices listed | Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart, Perth |
Passport fees
| Service | Fee (AUD) |
|---|---|
| Processing and issuance of an ePassport | 108.00 |
| Replacement of a lost ePassport | 270.00 |
| Replacement of a lost green or machine readable passport | 162.00 |
| Extension of validity of an ePassport | 45.00 |
| Issuance of a diplomatic or official ePassport | 108.00 |
| Replacement of a lost diplomatic or official ePassport | 270.00 |
| Travel document | 54.00 |
Losing an ePassport is 270.00 against 108.00 for a new one, a multiple of 2.5. A diplomatic or official passport is priced identically to an ordinary one at both the issuance and the replacement line.
Sydney and Canberra reconciled
The two Australian posts look like they charge differently. On three of four passport lines they do not, and the arithmetic proves it.
| Service | Canberra | Sydney, “plus affidavit” | Canberra + 45.00 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Replacement of a lost ePassport | 270.00 | 315.00 | 315.00 |
| Replacement of a lost MRP or older passport | 162.00 | 207.00 | 207.00 |
| Travel document | 54.00 | 99.00 | 99.00 |
| Extension of validity | 45.00 | 36.00 | does not apply |
Sydney’s own wording carries the answer: three of its lines say plus affidavit, and Canberra charges 45.00 for an affidavit. Add it and every one of those three matches to the cent.
The fourth does not. Extension of validity is 45.00 at Canberra and 36.00 at Sydney, a gap of 9.00 running the opposite way, and neither page describes it as bundled or unbundled. That one is a real difference between two posts in the same country, and nothing on either schedule explains it.
Requirement checklists for both are in the passport renewal in Australia guide, and the Sydney post in the Philippine Consulate Sydney guide.
Notarial, civil registry and citizenship fees
| Service | Fee (AUD) |
|---|---|
| Report of birth, marriage or death; consular mortuary certificate; administering an oath and issuing a certificate; application for NBI clearance | 45.00 |
| Acknowledgement of a deed, power of attorney or similar, with one or more signatures | 45.00 |
| Authenticating the official character of a notary, and veterinary certificates | 45.00 |
| Taking, transcribing and recording depositions, per page | 45.00 |
| Solemnization of marriage | 108.00 |
| Certification of witness to marriage, FA Form No. 41 | 22.50 |
| RA 9225 election or re-acquisition of citizenship, principal | 90.00 |
| RA 9225 election or re-acquisition of citizenship, dependent | 45.00 |
| Verification and certification of authority to import firearms and ammunition | 216.00 |
| Expedite fee, released within 24 hours | 18.00 |
45.00 is the flat rate, and the expedite fee of 18.00 is 40% of it, the same ratio Sydney and Kuwait both charge. The witness certification at 22.50 is the only fee on the schedule below that flat rate, at exactly half of it.
Depositions are per page, so a ten-page deposition is 450.00, more than four times a new passport.
Reacquiring citizenship costs 90.00 for the principal and 45.00 per dependent, so a family of four comes to 225.00. The process is covered in the dual citizenship guide, and clearance from abroad in the NBI clearance abroad guide.
Visa fees
| Visa | Fee (AUD) |
|---|---|
| 9(a) temporary visitor, single entry, 59-day stay | 54.00 |
| 9(a) temporary visitor, 6 months multiple entry | 108.00 |
| 9(a) temporary visitor, 1 year multiple entry | 162.00 |
| 9(a) restricted alien, single entry | 72.00 |
| 9(a) restricted alien, multiple entry valid 6 months | 144.00 |
| 9(b) transit, 72-hour stay, non-restricted aliens | 36.00 |
| 9(b) transit, 72-hour stay, restricted aliens | 72.00 |
| 9(c) seaman, individual | 36.00 |
| 9(d) treaty trader or investor | 720.00 |
| 9(f) student | 450.00 |
| 9(g) pre-arranged employment | 720.00 |
| 47(a)(2), SIRV and SRRV, each | 720.00 |
Restricted-alien status doubles the transit fee, from 36.00 to 72.00, and adds 33% to a single-entry visitor visa, from 54.00 to 72.00. Every 9(a) visitor visa carries a maximum stay of 59 days per entry regardless of how long the visa itself is valid.
Crew list visas
| Crew list visa, 9(c) | Fee (AUD) |
|---|---|
| Not more than 40 crew members | 180.00 |
| From 41 to 100 crew members | 270.00 |
| From 101 to 200 crew members | 360.00 |
| More than 200 crew members | 450.00 |
At the top band, 450.00 across more than 200 crew is under 2.25 per head, against 36.00 for a single seafarer applying alone.
What this page does not cover
The Embassy publishes no office hours and no telephone number on the pages read for this guide, and no processing times for any service beyond the 24 hour expedite promise. Its Quota Immigrant Visa line under Section 13 of the Immigration Act rendered with no figure attached, so no fee is stated here for it.
Frequently asked questions
- Where is the Philippine Embassy in Canberra?
- 1 Moonah Place, Yarralumla, ACT 2600, Australia. The Embassy also lists Philippine offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart and Perth alongside its trade, tourism and defence offices.
- How much is a Philippine passport in Canberra?
- AUD 108.00 for an ePassport. Replacing a lost ePassport is AUD 270.00 and replacing a lost green or machine readable passport is AUD 162.00. Extending the validity of an ePassport is AUD 45.00 and a travel document is AUD 54.00.
- Why does Sydney charge more than Canberra for the same passport service?
- For most services it does not. Sydney folds a AUD 45.00 affidavit into its lost-passport and travel-document figures and says so with the words plus affidavit. Canberra AUD 270.00 plus AUD 45.00 is Sydney AUD 315.00, and the same arithmetic works for the older passport type and the travel document.
- Is there a service where the two Australian posts genuinely differ?
- Yes, one. Extension of validity of an ePassport is AUD 45.00 at Canberra and AUD 36.00 at Sydney, a difference of AUD 9.00, and neither page describes it as including or excluding anything. That gap does not reconcile the way the others do.
- What do notarial and civil registry services cost?
- AUD 45.00 covers a report of birth, marriage or death, a consular mortuary certificate, administering an oath and issuing a certificate, an application for NBI clearance, acknowledgement of a deed or power of attorney, authenticating the official character of a notary, and depositions charged per page.
- How much is dual citizenship in Canberra?
- AUD 90.00 for the principal and AUD 45.00 per dependent, listed as election or re-acquisition of Philippine citizenship under RA 9225. That is double Toronto's CAD 77.50 principal only in currency terms, not in structure: both posts charge the dependent at half the principal rate.
- What is the most expensive thing on the schedule?
- The 9(d) treaty trader or investor visa, the 9(g) pre-arranged employment visa and the special non-immigrant visas at AUD 720.00 each. Outside visas, the highest is AUD 216.00 for verification and certification of authority to import firearms and ammunition.
- Can I pay to have a document released faster?
- Yes. The expedite fee is AUD 18.00 and the Embassy states it releases the document within 24 hours. Sydney publishes the same AUD 18.00 figure for same-day processing.
