Police Clearance Renewal: No Station Visit

Philippine National Police · clearances

Quick answer

If you completed a National Police Clearance in person within the last 3 years, PNP states it may be renewed without appearance. Log in to the same NPCS account, update your profile, upload a 2x2 white-background photo and a selfie holding a government ID, pay, then download the clearance.

Where these figures come from

About these figures: the numbers below come from PNP's official published sources: PNP NPCS | Terms and Conditions (https://pnpclearance.ph/register, retrieved 2026-09-01); PNP NPCS | How to Apply for a National Police Clearance (https://pnpclearance.ph/how_to_apply_v2.pdf, retrieved 2026-09-01); Philippine National Police | National Police Clearance (https://pnp.gov.ph/national-police-clearance/, retrieved 2026-09-01). Agencies change fees and rates without notice, so confirm with PNP before you rely on them. Last verified: 2026-09-01.

A National Police Clearance lasts 6 months, but the appointment that produced it lasts 3 years. That gap is the whole point of this page: for 3 years after your last in-person visit, renewal needs no police station at all.

The two routes

Non-appearance renewal Appearance
Who it is for Anyone who completed an NPC clearance in person within the last 3 years Everyone else, and first-time applicants
Account The same NPCS account as the previous application New or existing
Police station visit None Required, on the appointment date
Biometrics Already on file Photo, electronic signature and fingerprints taken
Extra uploads 2x2 picture with white background, plus a selfie holding a valid government-issued ID -
How you receive it Downloaded from the NPC account profile Printed at the station
Fee ₱150.00 plus a convenience fee ₱150.00 plus a convenience fee

What non-appearance actually requires

PNP lists three things:

# Requirement
1 Update your record and details in the NPCS applicant account
2 Upload a 2x2 picture with white background
3 Take a selfie while holding a valid government-issued ID

Then you wait for the application to be processed and download the clearance from your account profile. PNP publishes no processing time for that wait, so none is stated here.

Read PNP’s wording carefully

The published sentence is that the clearance “may be” renewed without appearance for 3 years from the last appearance. The quotation marks are PNP’s own, not this page’s. It is offered, not promised, and PNP does not publish the circumstances under which it would be refused.

The clocks

Item Published figure
Clearance validity 6 months
Non-appearance window 3 years from the last appearance
Payment deadline, appearance route 2 banking days before the appointment
Fee ₱150.00 plus an unpublished convenience fee

With a 6 month validity and a 3 year window, a single in-person visit can carry up to six renewals before you have to book an appointment again. The appointment guide covers that visit when the window does lapse.

If your details changed

Renewal is where a wrong detail surfaces, and PNP’s position is unforgiving. It states it will not re-print a clearance carrying data the applicant entered incorrectly; the remedy is to correct the account and re-apply, which means a new appointment, a new ₱150.00 payment and biometrics again.

Three fields cannot be edited once saved at all: name, email address and birthdate. PNP adds that the police station has no access or authority to edit your account information, so this cannot be fixed at a counter.

What renewal costs against the alternatives

Document Published fee Renewal route
National Police Clearance ₱150.00 plus a convenience fee Non-appearance for 3 years
NBI clearance ₱130.00 plus ₱30.00, ₱160.00 total Online renewal where the previous clearance was issued after 16 October 2016
NBI clearance, delivered ₱200.00 in NCR, ₱350.00 outside Delivery in 5 working days in NCR, 7 to 10 working days outside
PSA birth certificate ₱130.00 Viewable copy lapses after 60 days

The two clearances now work the same way in spirit: one in-person enrolment, then online renewals against the biometrics already held.

What this page does not cover

PNP does not publish, on the pages and documents read for this guide, a processing time for a non-appearance renewal, the grounds on which non-appearance could be refused, a separate renewal fee, a grace period after the 6 month validity lapses, or whether a hit record blocks the non-appearance route. None of those are stated here.

The main clearance guide covers the full process. The fee guide covers payment. The requirements guide covers the ID list.

Frequently asked questions

How long is a police clearance valid?
6 months. PNP states the National Police Clearance issued will be valid for six months, and both pnpclearance.ph and pnp.gov.ph publish the same figure.
Do I have to go back to the police station to renew?
Not within 3 years. PNP states the clearance may be renewed without appearance for 3 years from the last appearance, and that applicants need not appear at the police station. The clearance is downloaded from the NPC account profile.
What do I upload for a non-appearance renewal?
PNP names two items: a 2x2 picture with white background, and a selfie taken while holding a valid government-issued ID. You also update your record and details in the NPCS applicant account.
Which account do I use?
The same one. PNP states you must use or log in to the existing NPC account from your last application, and that to avail of the non-appearance process you should use the same account associated with your previous clearance application.
What if my last appearance was more than 3 years ago?
The published eligibility is completion of an NPC clearance process in person within the last 3 years, so beyond that window the appearance route applies: set an appointment, pay, and attend for biometrics.
Does renewal cost less?
PNP publishes no separate renewal price. The clearance fee stated in the NPCS tutorial is ₱150.00, plus a convenience fee that varies by payment mode.
Is non-appearance guaranteed?
No. PNP's own wording is that the clearance "may be" renewed without appearance, with quotation marks around "may be" in the original. Treat it as offered rather than guaranteed.
